「強撚糸」と呼ばれる京都府北部・丹後地方で300年以上受け継がれてきた糸に強いねじりを加える技術の新たなアプローチを模索している織元です。 強烈に収縮する強撚糸を高密度で織り上げる技術を用いて、超高硬度生地「アスファルトクレープ」やエッジの効いた立体的な凹凸を生み出す「鶉織り」と呼ばれる素材を生み出しています。

Since 1952, Usui Orimono co., Ltd. has been weaving Tango Chirimen with synthetics like polyester and rayon, as well as hybrids of natural and synthetic yarns twisted inhouse. With experience and skills acquired through developing more than 3,000 different chirimens, we depict rich texture with depth and a three-dimensional appearance on textiles.
